Gorillaz are definitely back! With new music pouring out we've been working to provide coverage on their latest album, Humanz , for the past few weeks. As readers are naturally curious about what are the names and faces of those behind Gorillaz, we thought Indie Shuffle should have a guide so you don't have to ask.

Which is not actually a dumb question, it can get pretty complicated! The main vocalist behind the Gorillaz is Damon Albarn. Damon is best known for his work as the lead singer of Blur. They were basically responsible for making Britpop happen. He later joined forces with comic artist and writer, Jamie Hewlett to form Gorillaz.

Visually, Gorillaz as a virtual band are the product of Jamie Hewlett, the creator of popular comic, Tank Girl. Gorillaz started their career with their self titled album Gorillaz , where the singles Clint Eastwood , , Rock the House , Tomorrow Comes Today , performed fairly well, with every single reaching the Top 35 in the UK.

Demon Days first single Feel Good Inc. Gorillaz then returned with the, slightly unsuccessful, albums Plastic Beach , which reached number 2 in the UK and the US and going Platinum in the UK, selling 1. Gorillaz then took a hiatus, running from - , which began after the release of DoYaThing. After their longest hiatus yet due to a falling out with Albarn and Hewlett in , Gorillaz returned with Humanz , reaching number 2 in the UK and US, selling k copies. Gorillaz have since started Song Machine , a music video web series releasing singles every month, with Song Machine: Season One reaching number 2 in the UK and number 12 in the US, selling k copies.
