A local take on a tart or sour wheat ale, Alaskan Cran-Spruce uses acidulated malts and cranberries for the bracing tartness, added to the unexpected lemony sweetness of Sitka Spruce Tips for a refreshing taste combination.
This light-pink wheat beer has a hint of the Spruce sap notes in the aroma, with a honey sweetness and fruity medley of berry intensity prominent in the nose. Legend has it that he first came up with this beer, with the help of his woodland friends, to fight against the long frigid winter nights endured by all of the pioneers of the Last Frontier. A bitter, moderately strong American pale ale that uses its clean, supporting malt to showcase its hop character. Stronger version of a doppel that is brewed to a high alcohol content and then rested on oak chips to enhance the mellow vanilla sweetness.
Sweet pumpkin notes are cut by an undercurrent of smoke, with hints of spice and brown sugar rounding out each sip. The American Imperial IPA is most often characterized by a goldor copper color, citrus hop character, big malt body and lingering bitterness. A light caramel or toffee malt background and light to medium body mouth feel make this session ale a satisfying brew.
